Costa Rica has an idol….an eighteen year-old named María José Castillo.  She was able to achieve runner-up on the popular show Latin American Idol (the counterpart to the wildly popular American Idol show in the U.S.)  María is from Barva in the province of Heredia.  However, her runner-up status doesn’t seem to matter to Costa Rica as she was absolutely swamped with admirers who greeted her upon her return from Argentina, where the finals were held.  Her performance on Latin American idol won’t harm her career either, as she has already received recording contract offers from studios as prestigious as Sony-BMG.  Often you hear it said that Heredia has the prettiest girls in Costa Rica, and María José is certainly no exception.  María José, you give Costa Rica another reason to be proud!!  For those of you who never got a chance to see her perform, here is a recent video clip from Latin American idol…..
