Since 2008, I’ve been spending the latter part of December and most of January each year in Colombia, South America.
Since my first trip things have changed quite a bit. In fact, things have changed drastically from the bad old days of outlaw Pablo Escobar and revolutionaries roaming the countryside.
Escobar is long gone and the revolutionary group known as the FARC is dwindling in size and reach, now relegated primarily to the remotest areas of the Colombian jungle region.
Colombia is a land with a little bit of everything. Amazing cultural variety, breathtaking and even snow-capped mountains of the Andes chain, jungles with bio-diversity that even exceed those of Costa Rica, and, like Costa Rica, two coastlines (Pacific and Caribbean) that boast some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, make Colombia a country of amazing tourism potential. Colombia is a land steeped in tradition and culture and you will feel those vibrations during your entire visit.
In short, it’s a place that offers something for just about everyone…as long as you have that tinge of adventurous spirit lurking within.
I’ve spent most of my time in the Medellin area and the Departamento (or province) of Antioquia. This year I did have the good fortune to visit the Amazonian region as well.
Here’s a list of all my Colombia photo albums on my Flickr page…take a look and you’ll see what all my fuss is about…
I’ve long considered Colombia to be the place of my next vacation design offerings. In fact, I’ve been extremely anxious to offer it to my customers.
So, I’ve now added two great Colombia vacation designs.
One is of the Medellin – Antioquia region and features all the highlights of that wonderful place. Medellin is one of the most modern cities in the world and is also known as the city of the eternal spring, as it boasts some of the best weather on the planet. There is so much to see, not just in Medellin itself, but the surrounding rugged mountainous countryside. It is a land of culture and tradition and is inhabited by some of the most fun-loving and warm people I’ve ever encountered.
The second offering combines our Medellin – Antioquia experience with a trip to the southernmost Amazon region of Colombia. This is the area of Leticia and it features an open border with Peru and Brazil. You will get to experience the world’s largest river as well as the amazing and very distinct cultures of three countries, all in a few days time!
As always, everything on these designs is known personally by me, Costa Rica Guy.
Hey, I would never steer you in the wrong direction!
So, for your next adventure vacation, why not try Colombia on for size.
Like Costa Rica, I’ll guarantee that you’ll be coming back for more!
